New Blog

I decided to start a new blog and abandon this one.  I wanted to change the blog address and at this point starting a whole new one was the easiest way. So... the new address is http://jenpetersart.blogspot.com/
Join me there and I will keep you updated on all of my artistic adventures!

Teapots

Today is the day for teapots.
I love white objects.

It is officially summer vacation for us and we already have our around the house projects underway!
Now the challenge is not letting these projects keep me from working in my studio.
I have so many creative projects in mind that I am very motivated to get the household jobs finished.
This should be a fun summer!

Artists Pen on Bristol Vellum

Two more of my recent masterpieces!
Moose are one of my favorite animals. There's something about their massive size and the way they wander around as if they own the area they are in that I am intrigued by.

 Pen and Watercolor

Wow! It's been a while!
I am taking an online class called Blast off for Artists by Art Biz Coach and my name is linked to my blog. I thought I better make a quick update and start posting some of my more recent art.
It has been quite a year for me. A lot has changed, including my artwork. I have taken up watercolor combined with my first love of drawing. I am loving it!

Self Portrait 2

I tried it again after practicing some shading techniques. I definitely like this one better.
(Darn blemish is from the camera)

2nd attempt

Here is my first attempt again so you can compare.  Ok, so without seeing the picture I worked from you can't tell which one most closely resembles it. But you can see the difference between the two drawings. Amazing to see how different they look from each other.

1st attempt

Hmmmmm, I do like the second attempt better. I like the way I shaded it better. Somehow tho it reminds me of a Barbie doll. It is a self portrait and I, in no way, resemble Barbie. I just don't know what to think about it.
Guess I need to keep working. I can only get better, right?!

Tomatoes, 5x7 oil on canvas board

I have been feeling like painting fruits and vegetables lately. Maybe it's a sign that I should be eating more of them too.=)
These tomatoes were a lot of fun to paint.  I love the colors. You can see the variety of them better on the actual painting.
I am feeling led to do something that is going to stretch me in a huge way. I think I will keep it to myself for now though. But I am very excited to get started. You may see more fruits, vegetables or other objects before I unveil the mystery.
Enjoy!

Blueberries, 5x7 oil on canvas board

It was very difficult to get the colors right for this painting, having what seemed like so many shades of one color. If you really study the subject, then you will start to see the rainbow of colors that exist. This is true of anything you see. There is never just one simple color. Keep studying, you will find the rainbow, the treasures, the promises within.
