Self Portrait 2

I tried it again after practicing some shading techniques. I definitely like this one better.
(Darn blemish is from the camera)

2nd attempt

Here is my first attempt again so you can compare.  Ok, so without seeing the picture I worked from you can't tell which one most closely resembles it. But you can see the difference between the two drawings. Amazing to see how different they look from each other.

1st attempt

Hmmmmm, I do like the second attempt better. I like the way I shaded it better. Somehow tho it reminds me of a Barbie doll. It is a self portrait and I, in no way, resemble Barbie. I just don't know what to think about it.
Guess I need to keep working. I can only get better, right?!

Tomatoes, 5x7 oil on canvas board

I have been feeling like painting fruits and vegetables lately. Maybe it's a sign that I should be eating more of them too.=)
These tomatoes were a lot of fun to paint.  I love the colors. You can see the variety of them better on the actual painting.
I am feeling led to do something that is going to stretch me in a huge way. I think I will keep it to myself for now though. But I am very excited to get started. You may see more fruits, vegetables or other objects before I unveil the mystery.
Enjoy!

Blueberries, 5x7 oil on canvas board

It was very difficult to get the colors right for this painting, having what seemed like so many shades of one color. If you really study the subject, then you will start to see the rainbow of colors that exist. This is true of anything you see. There is never just one simple color. Keep studying, you will find the rainbow, the treasures, the promises within.

Self portrait #1, pencil on paper

OK, first attempt at a self portrait. Not sure it actually looks like me, but I think for a face it's not to bad.
I have been feeling led lately to do my self portrait in many different forms. Not sure why yet. But I am sure there is something I will learn from it that has nothing to do with art in the way we know it.
It will be exciting to look back on this as I improve my skills.
I can also see that the lighting I took the picture of this in was bad. I will be working on improving that too.
